The Alamo!

This past weekend we went down to San. Antonio! What a busy place it was full of tourist and local people, and of course Texas is having record highs for this year and Friday was around 104! 

The Alamo was beautiful and full of history, I'd like to give major "high 5's" to all the older workers there! They told amazing stories that I have never heard about the Alamo! 

It's very strange and a little sad to look around because you have this site where a chunk of history took place, they've restored it to look like the real thing and the main site has rooms from the original building. But once you go outside you can just feel that this is NOT what it would have been like! Come on it's Texas they didn't have a beautiful running creek with Coy Fish swimming around, and once you step out of these beautiful lush gardens and walk a few yards away you see so many tall city buildings and it's just wired how everything was built up around it! I don't know that's just the way I am, in my mind everything should stay the same and that is just not realistic! Wow really I'm not saying the Alamo was not worth seeing and I'd advise everyone to go see it if they have a chance to! 

We picked up a couple cool souvenirs for my brothers and ourselves! (Sweet Magnets!)

After walking around all the little shops and walking down on the river walk I was getting very dehydrated and was ready to go! We'd spent the whole afternoon away from home and the dogs plus it takes us a good 2 hours to get home!

Oh My!

Wow it's been since Christmas! How is everyone? I've missed this. I have so much catching up to do! So much has happened in what 7-8 months??

Fast track.............

1. Got moved back down to Ft. Hood/Killeen Tx.

2. Chris came home at the end of January.

3. Did some amazing/fun things first 60 days of him being home.

4. Went on a 30 day block leave. One week in Iowa with my family and then spent the rest in Missouri with his family.

5. Picked up the new dog Bear (not the girl dog from my past post she ended up getting hit by a car in Mo) No worries Chris' parents had ANOTHER one to offer Chris!!

6. Came back to Tx. got back into the routine of life (kinda it's the Army, every day is something different!!) 

7. Went to Iowa to watch my Nephew and Niece while my sister (Jill) went on a missions trip to North Carolina with our church's youth group. Also my brothers were on the same trip.

8. While babysitting the kids also helped my parents pack things up at my childhood home because they are selling and moving closer to Des. Moines.

9. Flew back home to Texas.

10. Trying to figure out a good time to return to Iowa to help my parents finish moving!!! (This needs to be more closer to the bottom because this need to happen soon)

11. Back in May we received Orders stating our next Duty Station will be Ft. Drum NY. (First Texas extreme heat now up state New York with very Low temps??)

12. Chris is preparing to go to school in Sept. to Ft. Eustis Va.

13. I trying to figure out what to do while he's gone for 16 weeks! Do I stay in Tx. where I have no one or go home to Iowa where all my friends and family are....hmmmm

14. Oh Yes, got a New computer (LOVE IT) and high speed so now I'll be more than able to keep updated!!

And that's about it seems like a lot more in my head!! I mean this all just sounds like it's been so easy, just a walk in the park.....Yeah Right!

Well now since I've updated I shall post some pics and call it good It'll be much easier to post my everyday happenings now with this out of the way!!

Christmas....a lil late Pt.2.....

 Christmas Day!! My brothers woke me up early Christmas Morning and as I laid in bed the awesome smells of everything my Mom was cooking hit my nose! It's always been a tradition in my family that we all meet at Mom and Dads in in the later part of morning, open gifts, eat around 1 or 2 (depending on how slow the turkey or prime rib is taking) then we spend the rest of the afternoon playing games, talking, eating more and this year we ended up putting a 500 piece puzzle that my Dad got together! We always have a ton of fun and as long as I can remember it's been the same way, only we don't get up as early as when we were kids!

This year my niece and nephew are at perfect ages to enjoy Christmas! I love seeing their faces as they open gifts to see what's inside!! I remember being that age and Santa was so awesome!! I look forward to next year and years to come to see how they grow and react to everything!

My siblings and I all draw names to see who gets what for who! We've only been doing this for about 4 years and I must say I enjoy pulling a different name every year out of the hat! This year I pulled my brother Jacobs name and I must say it took me a long time to finally figure out what to get him! My sister had my name and she bought me a wonderful Cast Iron Duch Oven that is RED (good job Jill). My parents surprised me with a wonderful scrapbooking tool that I use all the time at my sisters, a Cricket Cutter! It is a fabulous tool that I do not know what I would have done without in Texas! (I feel very spoiled this year)

Christmas....a lil late Pt.1.....

  Sorry Ladies and Chris...... It's been a busy end of the month. After getting back from Texas my days have been packed full of things to do and things still needing to get done before the New Year rolls around! I have a ton of pictures to post of Christmas! I hope everyone has enjoyed this Wonderful December.

This first post is of our Church's Christmas Play that have all the kids in it! My sister was in the play along with my nephew and niece! Tristin was so cute and he knew every song that they sung and let me tell you the play lasted for 45 min and that was A Lot of songs! Taitlin only had a small part at the very end where her class sang "Away In a Manger" (She stayed on stage for 30 seconds before she walked off the stage & found her Mamma who was holding the only Microphone, Taitlin thought she needed to sing into the mic.....Jill was thinking and had turned it off before she could sing to many verses of the song.)

I'm Back.........

Hello All! What a crazy month this is turning out to be! I have been so busy trying to get things done before I have to leave for Tx again!

I had a feeling that I needed to get down to Tx to start looking for a place to live. I've been looking online on and off for the last month but no matter how much you read or how many pictures you look at you'll never really know what it looks/feels like!

So on Tuesday night my brother Jacob and I headed on down to Tx to start looking! I drove all night and ended up getting into Killeen around 11a.m.! I was so tired and the first rental place I went to was a crazy madhouse! I was able to get a key to a duplex that I thought looked nice! Well it was awesome and I fell right in love with it! So I went back to the rental place and told them just how much I LOVED it and that's when they lowered the boom! That duplex did not accept pets and WE have Scout plus the other dog Sophee in MO!!! They were all kinda rude and really could have cared less about what I wanted and didn't want!

So I ended up leaving and going over to the place we had rented from before! (I should have just done that to begin with!) When I walked through the door they were so helpful and I remembered everyone from before and THEY remembered ME! They lent me a couple keys to a few places they thought Id like! One of them being a key to a duplex in Killeen! Well we ended up going to the duplex last and when I tried to open the door the key would not unlock the door. I walked into the backyard and looked around, it had a nice fence and looked nice and big great for the dogs! 

We took the keys back and I told them about not being able to get the door unlocked to the duplex, that's when they remembered that there was a lady who had already looked into it and was pretty sure she wanted it! Oh well I was so tired and ready to go to the motel and shower that I really didn't care. So I told them we'd be back in the morning to start hunting again!

This was after we got back from eating!

After showering and just chilling for 1/2 hour I remembered that my brother and I had not eaten ALL day!! What a bad sister I am! So I let Jacob pick the place he wanted to eat and after that we drove around Killeen, Harker Heights and even went On Base at Hood! Everything look and felt just like it had before I had moved!

Next Day...... We go back to the same place and I had looked online at the motel of different places that I wanted to look at. So I got more keys and as I went to leave one of the girls called me back to the desk where she asked me if I wanted to look at the duplex again because the lady who had backed out of the deal and wanted something else...Sure Why not! We drove to there first and opened the door to an AWESOME home.......let me show you............

So after looking at it over and over and taking a million pics I decided I wanted it!! So we went back to the renters and I started in signing all the papers and by 4p.m. it was and is our's!

After we left the rental place we got a bite to eat and headed back to Iowa!! I got home this morning and I slept most of the afternoon but I still feel sleepy! Ahhhh Anyways I think I'm going to go to bed! Sweet Dreams!
